My Story

To tell my story on how I got started in web design, I would have to start when I discovered photography, The time I developed my first print, I was awestruck at how this image, I just saw a day or two ago, was coming to life before my eyes. I was hooked. I knew I could tell a story of that very moment in time. I decided to pursue photography, so I picked out a college and learned all I could. I found out when I graduated that I learned so much more buy working for and with other people who had the same excitement I did. That was over 24 years ago. I still do photography, but it is more for myself than a career.

In October 1994, I went to the movies with my boyfriend and saw Stargate. I was so fascinated with the computer animation and special effects that I decided to find the production company that created those incredible images. I contacted Kleiser-Walczak Construction Company in North Adams Massachusetts. They also created the computer special effects for Judge Dredd, The X-Men and other movies and rides. They helped me figure out what I needed to do to pursue my new career. Unfortunately, for finical reasons, I was unable to complete all my classes at Pratt in Manhattan. So I continue on my own to study, create and learn all I can about 3D Computer Animation.

In 1998 I was lucky enough to meet a gentlemen that owns his own web site and multimedia company. We found that we have the same interests and wanted to create pretty much the same things. So he took a chance and hired me as an Administrative Assistant while I learned web design and flash animation. Well with in one year I became Production Manager. i'm still there now, and was promoted to Vice President of Operations, but in my spare time I create small informational web sites for business in the area. My first love is creating. I love the whole process of envisioning what that message should say and feel and just like the photography I still get that awestruck feeling when is see it develop before my eyes.

Objective

My objective is to work for a company that is not afraid of trying new things and takes chances. (As some people put it, not afraid of pushing the envelope or thinking out of the box). A company that works as a team and promotes with in. Who praises the ideas, good or bad of their employees. A company that encourages imagination and creativity and who helps their employees learn and grow with the company.

I would like to work for a company that values their employees for their hard work, knowledge, creativity and dedication. Who looks at the company as an extended family. A company that nurtures and encourages their employees to think and create no matter how ridicules the idea might seem, because by learning from the company they will learn what works and what doesn't. Most people thought the Wright Brothers were crazy for wanting to fly like birds. If it was not for that one crazy idea we would not be able to travel faster and easier to learn and enjoy the incredible world we live on.

I would like to work for a company that doesn't get to discouraged or want to give up when things get tough. A company that can concur and over come those periods of time that do not always go the way we all would like. I know this might be a tall order, but I know that there has to be at least one company out there that has all these qualities and more.

Hobbies and Interests

My hobbies and interest are vast. My first love is animals. I have several dogs that I consider my kids. I worked for a veterinarian for three years while I was going to school for computer animation and special effects. I was also an assistant dog obedience trainer before I got into computers. I also go horseback riding whenever I can. I use to enter in small amateur show jumping competitions (when I had the time). I have collected many ribbons over the years and many in first place.

Another passion of mine is target shooting and archery. I enjoy collecting classic and antique firearms. Most people don't understand this, especially from a woman, but if you have never shot a firearm before you just wouldn't understand. I feel this teaches respect as well as discipline. I am also an NRA Pistol Instructor at the Bridgeport Shooting Range.

I enjoy music very much. I listen to everything from Bach to Zappa. I enjoy fast cars. I watch Nascar, Indy and Drag Racing as often as I can. I enjoy action adventure, sci fi, and fantasy movies the most, as well as books. One of my favorite stories that has been turned into a movie is Harry Potter. I have admired so much the imagination of J. K. Rowling's stories.

The reason for telling you all this is to give you a small idea of what kind of person I am. I see myself as a person that puts her all into what ever I do. I feel I am a hard working person that thrives on learning. The more I learn the happier I become. I feel that knowledge is one of the most incredible and important tools we posses. With knowledge and heart you can achieve anything. I work well with others, but do get a little frustrated with people who don't work to their full potential or don't give it their all. There is no shame in failing as long as you have tried your hardest.
