Lobo

This is Lobo.

He was given to me as a present in 1992. He is a Dobie mix and was just the best. His favorite foods were Oranges and Carrots. When I use to go horse back riding he would steal the carrots the kids would leave by the stalls for their horses later.

His nickname was Dopie but he was one of the smartest dogs I have ever known. He learned to how to open doors by himself. His favorite things in life were kids. When I was in a horse back riding lesson and with one of the women taking the lesson with me, her husband and son who was about 1 year, Lobo was running around the barn and came full spread towards the baby. My girlfriend and I saw this we both gasped, but did not have time to react or say anything. Just before he came charging to the baby, Lobo stopped inches away from the baby, sat down slowly and gave the sweetest most gentle lick on the cheek. The babies face just lit up and smiles and started to laugh. So Lobo just laid down next to the baby for the rest of the lesson. Several hours later when the older kids would start coming by, again Lobo running around like a nut ball and a 10 year old boy, who I can not remember his name, loved Lobo was starting to come up to the barn and Lobo saw him made a beeline for him and the two of them started wrestling on the ground together. They were having so much fun. It was amazing to me to see that Lobo was able to determine the difference between a one year old and a ten year old.

He passed away July 14, 2006 from kidney failure. We miss him so very much. It is to quiet around the house because he was a talker, and we always talked back with him.
